At the most fundamental level all we need to explain the 'evolution' of the universe and of every system within including the system of species on earth is what the physicists call four basic forces or interactions of nature, i.e., gravitational, electromagnetic, strong and weak interactions. Call it design if you will, but Darwinism is definitely secondary. This is Self-Designed
Universe in a nutshell.
The universe gets wound up into and
unwound from four basic forces on its eternal cycles of contraction and expansion or involution and evolution just as, to a certain extent, a tree gets wound up into and unwound from its seed to become the next tree.(What is beyond the evolving/involving universe, called Universe, God, One etc is beyond the scope of this website but is explained in the book.)
In getting unwound [1], which begins with and thanks to the superforce/unified force/subtle energy generated at big bang, the universe goes through four basic interactions in the order of gravitational, electromagnetic, strong and weak in its
every minute space-time accretion as well as a whole [2].
In the process the universe goes through mutations at all these levels, from where then Darwinian mechanisms of variations, selection and survival take over in the case of species on earth. Forget that chance (or mistakes in replication in genes) causes mutations.
So no more heated arguments on design and evolution or rather design and Darwinism! Both are two sides of the same coin of the universal scheme of evolution here on earth. The universe's going through four basic interactions and consequent mutations provide it with basic and design part. Taking over from there by Darwinian mechanisms of variations, selection and survival in the case of species provides it with the secondary and evolution part.
No more heated arguments on determinism and free will! The universe's going through four basic interactions till it gets unwound from four basic forces completely provides it with purpose, determinism and arrow of time. While Darwinian mechanism of selection provides scope for the operation of the correspondingly gained free will on it in the case of species on earth.
Sorry man, you are as much a product of the same simple laws of physics in the form of four basic interactions as minerals, plants, animals and in fact all the other entities in the universe are. All you did with your famous free will was just to play the reaction part to the action part of the interactions. Again, in fact, as all the other entities unconsciously or subconsciously did at their own levels! Of course you need to re-apprise your understanding of the mere "matter" which you obviously inadequately study with physics. For, at its ultimate level of Oneness and which can only be realized through direct self-experience, it has all the properties which you usually attribute to God.

A
little elaboration
Self-Designed Universe, for the first time in history, proposes and
endeavors to explain the whole 'evolution' of the universe solely in terms
of four basic forces or interactions of nature, i.e., the gravitational,
electromagnetic, strong and weak interactions. Of course, in doing so it
goes beyond hard science and takes the interactions in their
easy-to-understand, common sense meanings.
Thus plants go ‘up’ – opposite to gravity
- not because of any chance mutation
in minerals followed by variation and selection as the evolutionists would
have us believe, but basically because of their being the product of
gravitational interactions going on at their level. Animals develop love
and hate or attraction and repulsion similarly because of their being the
creatures of electromagnetic interactions. In other words, animals are
plants forced to bend horizontally and move because of the attraction and
repulsion of electromagnetic interactions at their base
(a process which began with algae). Likewise Homo sapiens develop ego,
self-consciousness, language, thought process and reason because of their
being the 'phenotypes' (products) of strong
interactions [3], because of which they first experience confinement at the
core of their beings and consequently develop those traits. This is at the
level of species. (To have an idea of this continuity of evolution also
see the diagram at the right below, which is though drawn in some other
context in the book.)
The same above process goes on our individual life levels: we
grow up in childhood basically
because of our going through gravitational interactions. We experience love
and hate in youth
because of our going through electromagnetic interactions. And we
experience mental confinement and consequently become reasonable (as
against being emotional in youth) in our middle age because
of our going through strong interactions.
And in fact the same goes on at all system levels (see chart). Beginning from and propelled by the superforce of the big bang all hierarchical systems
similarly go through four basic interactions relevant to their levels and
thus display the characteristics of respective interactions (See also Sense & Essence of Self Designed

Chapter-wise summary
Preface: It describes how the author came
upon his insight regarding the evolution of the universe in terms of four
basic forces or interactions of nature. The author begins his story from
the exact moment of the big bang where for a split second all becomes one.
Seeing that science, philosophy and mysticism are describing this same one
only in different words he coins a new, common word for it as Mosc. Thus Mosc is Matter of
spiritual category for the mystics or spiritualists, Matter of substantial
category for the philosophers, and Matter of supersymmetric
category for the scientists. He exhorts the followers of different systems
to view this word according to their own persuasions. For this will not
alter the basic facts of his story in any way.
1. The
First flush: This chapter describes author's
first, inspired impression of the whole universal scheme of evolution when he began to
write for the first time after his insight. In it he briefly touches upon
almost every aspect of the universal scheme as seen in the light of four
basic forces or interactions.
2. A Stitch in Time: In this chapter the author
describes how it is now time for the theory of evolution to emerge from the
ultimate base of all there is.
3. E = MC2 Tells
Us Something More:
It describes with the help of Einstein's famous equation how the universal
scheme in fact comprises three distinguishable though overlapping and
interacting realms i.e. spiritual, virtual and the actual (or physical), represented
and explored by mysticism, philosophy and science respectively. Also, that
we cannot hope to understand the complete universal scheme unless we give
due place to the findings of all the three systems of knowledge in our
attempts to understand it.
4. What is, is Not: In this
chapter the author brings to light an other aspect of consciousness.
Essentially the consciousness of the oneness of the universal scheme, it is
ever present in the background and provides ground for the manifestation of
our different or separate consciousness. Without it we will be just like
computers.
5. Shoulders of the
Giants: This chapter acquaints the reader
with some prominent scientist-philosophers who have already attempted the
explanation of the whole universal scheme in one go. The author explains
that he is in fact not plowing his lonely furrow but has the shoulders of
the giants for support in his endeavor.
6. Matter of Spiritual
Category (Mosc):
It attempts to describe in a simple way what the religious people call
soul, spirit or even God, scientists call supersymmetry,
superspace and even superforce,
and philosophers call substance. The author adds that the story of the
universal scheme of evolution in fact begins from
'here.'
7. By Jove, There's a
Real Hell Over There!
This chapter explains
the virtual realm of the universal scheme as against the spiritual realm
explained in the previous chapter. The author says that it is the same to
which religious people call hell and Aristotle called the world of potentia. Also, that it is the same to which we call
minds at our human levels. The universe gets wound up into forces in this realm and gets unwound in the actual or physical realm.
8. Pray, Nataraja, What Makes You Dance? In this chapter the author
describes four basic forces in a simple, commonsense way.
9. Stormy Visions: This chapter attempts to describe how the oneness or Mosc gets entangled or wound up into four basic forces
in the first place. In it the author keeps the general universal scheme in
mind while describing this.
10. Carry On, Funny
Scribbler! In this
chapter the author describes us human being's entanglement into forces and
how we disentangle from them. It gives examples from our day-to-day living.
In other words, in it the author keeps humans beings in mind while
describing entanglement and disentanglement.
11. Playing the Ultimate
Fool: Here the author explains how the
universal scheme is in fact without beginning and end. And how the humans
have rather limitations in describing it fully.
12. From 'Singularity'
to Structures: This chapter explains how the
structures form thanks to four basic forces or interactions. He elaborates
that even our dream structures form in the same way, only at more subtle
levels of matter.
13. Goodbye Biology! In this chapter the author explains
the formation of even the biological structures or organisms in terms of
four basic forces or interactions.
14. The Golden Period
and Beyond… This chapter explains that how even
our cultural spirals or Ages can be explained in terms of four basic forces
or interactions. It also explains how as per this explanation our present
cultural spiral that began with AD era is heading towards its golden
period, to be followed by inevitable dark periods…

Excerpts
"…It may, however, be added here in passing that
in my scheme of things the Oneness of the above dialogue represents the
same 'Supersomething' to which religious people
call Soul, Spirit or even God, scientists call Supersymmetry,
Superspace or even Superforce
and the philosophers call Substance or even Supersystem.
So to facilitate a collective description throughout this book, I have
coined for that the common name of M.O.S.C or simply Mosc,
which will thus stand for Matter of spiritual category or simply for Spirit
for the religious people or spiritualists, Matter of supersymmetric
category or simply for Supersymmetry for the
scientists, and Matter of supersystemic category
or simply for Supersystem for the philosophers.
And in the light of the
above, the import of the dialogue under discussion would also mean that:
the origin and evolution of the Universe down to the least space-time
entity is the result on the part of the Soul or Spirit or even God to seek
freedom, liberation, nirvana from four basic forces for the spiritualists;
on the part of Supersymmetry to seek to unwind
itself from the same forces for the scientists; and on the part of the Supersystem to seek to display itself through the above
forces for the philosophers, at myriad of hierarchical system levels."
"…But before this I may clarify that each interaction in our
scheme of things comprises two parts and so gives two apparent 'species':
one in which Mosc gets disentangled from the
previous force and the other in which it gets entangled into the next. For
example, in the second or electromagnetic interactions it would get
disentangled from gravity, which would give us the species of plants, and
alongside would get entangled into electromagnetic forces, which would give
us the species of animals. So that collectively these electromagnetic
interactions would give us the species of plants to animals. Same is the
case with clay to minerals – disentangling from inertia and
entangling into gravity - with primates to man – disentangling from
electromagnetic forces and further entangling into strong forces - and
beyond.
Now coming again to the
main point of simplifying the above in terms of interactions:
1. Gravitational interactions gave us the 'species' of clay to minerals.
2. Electromagnetic interactions gave us the species of plants to animals.
3. Strong interactions gave us the species of primates to man.
4. And finally, weak interactions would one day give us the species to
which we may call the species of superman."
"…Have you ever wondered why there are three basic systems of
knowledge i.e., science, philosophy and mysticism in the world? Science, in
which we put things in front of us and examine them; philosophy, in which
we examine the things in our heads only; and lastly, mysticism, in which we
have a direct experience of things so to say, in which, in other words, we
have a direct experience of what ultimately constitutes the things? It is
also because of the same above conclusion. That the game of life comprises
three interacting realms i.e., actual, virtual and the spiritual and that
each is represented as well as explored by one system of knowledge as the
things come down evolving to our human levels.
The actual realm or our Mopc is represented as well as explored by science. The
virtual realm or Movc or the realm of what
constitutes our minds by philosophy. And the spiritual realm or Mosc by mysticism."
"…In other words, the third world which this equation would give
us, in addition to the actual and virtual worlds as discussed above, would
be the spiritual world. And this is the world which belongs to the mystic.
This is the world which would 'breathe fire into the equations...' to
recall the words of Stephen Hawking given at the beginning of this chapter.
No description of life,
no theory of evolution would be complete until it gives due place to all
these three worlds in its scheme of things."
"…Lastly, as I promised above, we may wind up the answer with a
parable which I hope would further clear the whole question of
consciousness – even of both kinds.
A certain prince lived
in a state called Oneness with his king-father. One day the king-father put
before him an interesting proposition. He told him that he will make him
the king of the state of Oneness if he would successfully travel through
four specially built towns named Gravitown, Electrotown, Strongtown and Weaktown and come back to stake his claim. He warned
him that each of the first three towns will be more labyrinthine than the
previous one, and it will be only the last, the fourth one which may be of
some help to him.
The prince agreed,
thanked the king-father and embarked on the proposed journey. He did not
face much difficulty in passing through the first two towns – the Gravitown and Electrotown.
But he found himself overwhelmed by the intricacies involved in the
construction of the third one, i.e., the Strong town. This town seemed more
inside than outside, more full of virtual mazes than actual, more full of illusive mazes than real. He at once knew
that he would have to study it thoroughly to get out. Brilliant as he was
in his college days, he put himself on the job of learning all the facts
about the town with complete confidence.
Soon he was lost even to
himself so to say in the study of the town, more so because the town's
intricacies so fascinated him.
Anyway, after a certain
time he had studied it so thoroughly that he knew it inside out so to say.
He became conscious of every actual and virtual aspect of it, even every
actual and virtual brick used in its construction. He became sort of a
specialist of this town. He thought there was left really nothing more in
it for him to know.
But alas! While he had
thus reached the peak of knowledge of this town, peak of awareness, of
consciousness of this Strong town, wow be to his thorough absorption into
its study - to the point of almost losing himself as we said above - he
forgot his original state of Oneness, and needless to say, his promise to
return to it to stake his claim.
He may well have
remained lost in it for ever were his king-father, knowing his plight, not
to sent his messenger by the name of Time to
gently pick him up during his sleep or perhaps during one of his losing
fits so to say, to catapult him into the next town, the Weaktown.
From where because he could see the boundaries of the state of Oneness once
again, he could come to remember it again. And of course, his promise to
return to it to stake his claim.
Needless to add, from
there onwards it was again a smooth journey for him. All he had to do was
to shed his so-called knowledge/consciousness of the previous town and only
keep his attention now fixed on the state of Oneness soon to be reached.
So that is that dear
reader! Our usual knowledge, usual consciousness is like the knowledge of
only the towns. In this we can be no different from computers. It is only
the consciousness of the original state of Oneness, from which we began and
to which we are bound to return, which can and will give it its
meaning."
"…Below we
would explore the above still further. This would lead us to our theory of
the hell so to say...
With every interaction
with this world as above, I am, let us say,
learning some 'lessons.' These lessons are stored in the form of a
particular polarization of virtual particles around my 'I', around my Mosc, in the relevant layers. With every lesson learnt,
with every particular polarization of virtual particles around my Mosc, I try to re-arrange my outside world while at the
same time going further into interaction with it.
Each and every
interaction with the world and the lessons thus learnt further send the
virtual particles constituting my mind into re-arrangement, into new
polarization. And so on. This I call the 'continuous, creative and
corresponding dialogue' going on between my mind and the outside world.
Life is nothing but a
continuous process of learning lessons. … All these lessons I learn
daily, modify, and carry-over to the next day, further modify and
carry-over throughout my life. Similarly, all these lessons I learn each
life, modify, and carry-over to the next life, modify and carry over to the
next life and so on: that is, till I have learnt all of my lessons.
Now, so far I can
understand it, the final arrangement of the virtual particles around one's
'I', one's Mosc at the time one dies - the final
resultant of the lessons so to say (would the scientists call that the
Bose-Einstein condensate of virtual bosons?) - does not disintegrate and is
carried over intact beyond death. Having shed its actual body it is now in
the purely virtual realm, with a virtual body and with the 'account' of the
lessons. And that, in other words is to say, is to be in hell."
"…For example, the phenomenon of evolution as hitherto explained
may be summed up as: Evolution feeds on our survival instinct; survival
feeds on natural selection; natural selection feeds on variations;
variations feed on 'mistakes' in replication basically in genes. On what
these mistakes in replication ultimately in genes also called mutations
feed is anybody's guess. Here as of now the downward line ends. Here as of
now the so-called reductionists throw in the
towel crying over the shoulders of chance.
Here, in a way, the
downward line takes a U-turn in favor of the so-called holists: Replications
and even mutations in genes feed on instructions from bigger molecules
called DNAs or molecules of life; DNAs feed on the directions from ultimately the whole
chromosome; which feeds on the directions from ultimately the whole system;
which feeds on directions from ultimately the process of evolution on the
Universal scale. What the process of evolution ultimately on the Universal
scale feeds on is again anybody's guess. Here as of now the upward line
ends. Here as of now the so-called holists bolt…
Now taking the first
paragraph first, evolution cannot solely depend upon our survival instinct,
for if survival was to be considered the sole criterion, minerals need
never have evolved to become plants, nor plants to become animals etc. etc.
Moreover, it does not explain death-wish in human beings or the process of
disorganization going on along with organization in crystals as Cairns
Smith says as quoted in the first chapter - and which, in fact, is
omnipresent.
The role of survival
must only be partially true, and that too - it is obvious - for some wider
purpose. In fact, for our Mosc's ultimate
disentanglement from all the basic forces going by our theory being
presented here.
The idea of natural
selection is as well superficial. What selection has I in my growth? From
childhood to youth to middle age etc.; from minerals to plants to animals
to man etc. etc.? And so on?
I do not grow or evolve
through selection, rather I select according to my growth, according to the
status of my growth, according to the ladder of the evolutionary
double-helix staircase relevant to the level of my life on which I
presently am.
I do not grow through
selection but in reaction to four fundamental forces one after the other,
at one level or the other, at my deepest. Selection superficially may seem
to be there, but it all is the forced selection.
I 'selected' the weaker
legs as a man than the animals or as an animal than the plants, basically
not because of any other reason but because now the force of gravity is far
from my mind and I can handle that with this much of strength in my legs.
I did not select the
language as a Homo sapiens over the animals basically because it would
enhance my chances of survival, but because as a Homo sapiens I was the
product or the 'phenotype' of strong interactions at my base, which put
'me' into a nucleons-walled prison, in reaction to which, to communicate
across which, I had to invent it (details already given in the chapter on
forces)."

About the author
Harbhajan Singh, 53, quit his government job
of a civil engineer to pursue his first love for self-knowledge especially
in relation to the Universe. Then two mystical insights rewarded his quest.
One showed him that "All is One". And the other, that
"All" evolves through a single spirituo-scientific

hierarchical system levels. Writing about this according to him has now
become his raison d'être. He is a citizen of India and lives there with his wife and
